The Touching the Qi weekends are a wonderful introduction to the magic and mystery of T'ai Chi.  Taught by David-Dorian Ross, America's T'ai Chi Champion (7-time national gold medalist, world silver medalist and 2-time world bronze medalist), these weekends are a series of half-day workshops on how to bring the beauty and power of T'ai Chi into your life.  Take one class, or attend the entire weekend!  Here is a breakdown of the courses typically offered in the weekend:

POWER, FREEDOM AND FLOW - T'AI CHI SECRETS OF HARMONY

(FREE Friday evening lecture)

The phrase "T'ai Chi Ch'uan" is literally translated as "The Supreme Ultimate Martial Discipline."  In China, it is considered more than a martial art -- it is a living philosophy, and a path to discovering balance and harmony for all.  In this free lecture, learn how T'ai Chi interprets the experience of balance -- and how you can bring it into your own life day by day through the "Three Pillars" of T'ai Chi Ch'uan.

TOUCHING THE QI

(1/2-Day Workshop)

Ever wonder where your "get-up-and-go" got up and went?  Could you use more of this kind of energy?  That is the goal of the ancient Chinese science of Qigong (pronounced "chee-gung").  In this 1/2 day workshop, you'll be introduced to the 4 Secrets to finding your inner life force and bringing under your control.  You'll also experience both the Eight Pieces of Brocade (an ancient form of Qigong), and Flow Motion™ - David-Dorian's simplified T'ai Chi workout.

Everyone who attends the Touching the Qi workshop will recieve a FREE copy of the book 15 Ways that Qi Can Change Your Life , by David-Dorian Ross (a $19.95 value!).

MASTERING FLOW

(1/2-Day Workshop)

One of the most common observations about T'ai Chi Ch'uan is how smooth and flowing the movements appear.

Flow is what you get when synergy is present, and T’ai Chi Ch’uan trains your body to move synergistically.  Synergy is defined as the coordination and interaction of all the parts of the body, mind and Spirit in such a way that the whole is greater the mere sum of those parts.  In the T’ai Chi, you must coordinate both arms, both legs, torso rotation, head motion and eye focus in such a way that all the parts begin to move at the same moment, and all finish their movement at the same moment.  Moreover, the movements must be precise – remember, T’ai Chi Ch’uan is a martial art, and if the movement is sloppy (i.e. without Flow) then the technique would not work and you would wind up getting hit. In this popular half-day seminar, you will learn the Six Essential Principles of Flow, along with specific training exercises for each principle.

Everyone who attends the Mastering Flow workshop will recieve a FREE copy of the book Mastering Flow, by David-Dorian Ross (a $19.95 value!).

THE PATH OF FREEDOM

(1/2-Day Workshop)

The path to freedom is the most difficult of all the paths, because it depends on already understanding the principles of power and flow. The ancient Mind/Body Masters taught us an eight-step approach to finding freeing your mind and Spirit.  In T'ai Chi, we practice this approach in the game of Pushing Hands - T'ai Chi for two!  In this 1/2-day workshop, you will learn the essential skills you need to benefit from this game.

Everyone who attends the Path of Freedom workshop will recieve a FREE copy of the book How to Free Your Mind , by David-Dorian Ross (a $19.95 value!).

T'AI CHI MASTER CLASS

(2-Hour Class Intensive)

This class is just plain old fun!  Learn details and nuances of traditional T'ai Chi movements as you've never seen before.  Movements covered are typically the fundamental Yang style moves: Parting the Wild Horse's Mane; Grasping the Bird's Tail; Brush Knee and Twist Step and Stepping Back to Repulse Monkey.  (But if time allows... I take requests!)
