So there I was, sitting at my desk and pondering the timeless question: how does an aging T’ai Chi champion stay relevant? Should I make some new videos? Write another book? Go on another seminar tour? And then it hit me – why not create a place where people all over the world could come [...]

In 1998, Curt Sahakian thought it would be a great idea if there was a central place where people could go to find T'ai Chi schools in their local area. A new form of communication known as "the inter-net" had been introduced only a couple of years before, and Curt thought it would be the perfect place to put the directory. So he launched his own webpage called, "The Tai Chi Site" (www.thetaichisite.com) - the original directory of schools on the web. Later, as other websites came on the scene, Curt added pageas and pages of links, plus message boards (remember them?) where T'ai Chi enthusiasts could share thoughts and information, and even a calendar where you could list your own T'ai Chi-related events.
But after a while, Curt found that he needed to focus on his day job, a successful law practice, and a prominent Chicago legal expert in corporate negotiation. Over time, the Tai Chi Site became dated. Web technology advanced, but the site stayed the same. Many of the links became obsolete.
Last year, FCMG approached Curt about breathing new life into The Tai Chi Site, and Curt became one of our first clients. The first thing we did was to give the site a visual makeover. It now boasts a beautiful Asian-inspired theme to go along with the T'ai Chi mission. But more importantly, we've u se the most up-to-date scripting to make The Tai Chi Site more user-friendly. The school directory is indexed by country and in the US by state. Soon each state will also be indexed by city. Or you can simply use the search function, and look for schools by special keyword.
There are approximately 1000 listings, which returns the site to its place as one of the most complete databases of schools on the internet. More schools are added every week, and school owners can add their own school info -including logo - right from a handy upload function.
Come check out the site. The web's original Tai Chi directory is back - better than ever!
